Dr. Ma, Ying-jeou, the President of Republic of China (Taiwan), was appointed as the new president of TGA Scouts of China in the presidential office in Taipei on Thursday 27 November 2008, with blessings from delegation of 11 scouts and leaders whom were led by Dr. Chao, Shou-Po, the Chairman & Chief Commissioner of the National Council.
President Ma jointed Scouting during teenage, and experienced cooking when camping for fist time in his life. He was deeply impressed by the activities, and very glad Scouting has enabled him to get closer to juveniles and young leaders.
President Ma cited that scout movement is unique and complete, developing sound mind and character of the next generation in collaboration with formal education. He expects scouts to play a more constructive role in this society, and he is very willing to support the promotion of scout movement as well as he could.
President Ma indicated he is honored to take this new position, leading scouting in Taiwan to create a better world.
